You are 8 months old now!

Your Mother on her first Mother's Day! I don't like pictures that include me but I thought I would make an exception on Mother's Day! You on your first Doo Dah Day; at Rhodes Park listening to music with your Mom & Day & dog Sunday on a beautiful Saturday!

My favorite thing is to see you smile when I come to your house! You are a "joy maker"! Your Dad has a new job teaching senior government & economics at Mt. Brook High. It will be a great change for him. This will be a fun summer followed by a new & exciting job change for your Dad. Your Mom continues working during the night 2 times a week helping new babies come into the world.  Your parents are taking me on a beach trip in June! That is going to be exciting! On a less exciting note, you had your first ear infection. It took two different antibiotics to "knock it out". Your parents were their usual wonderful selves as they took care of you while you weren't feeling your best. The earache was preceded by the appearance of your first tooth! How exciting. You are beginning to do so many new things! You had your first swim in your backyard wading pool. You drank a cup of water while in the bathtub. You went to the library. You are really rolling around in your bed at night. Your Dad sent a video of you pulling to stand! You feed yourself carrots & brocolli and other nutrious foods your parents give you. You laugh and smile so much. You are so alert to what's going on around you. Yesterday your mom sent a video of you trying so hard to crawl! Although it was hard to do & you cried a little while you did it, you sucessfully moved yourself from one area of the floor in your room to another area in an effort to reach a toy. You were so happy when you did it. Your mom was there encouraging you (and taking a video!) and proud when you reached your goal. What a metaphor for what is ahead for the rest of your life.

You are Beautiful

You get more beautiful every time I see you! As you get older you can ask your mom for advice concerning coping with beauty because she knows a lot about that!! You are so happy and loving and have a delightful laugh you share with everyone you meet. I got to spend the whole weekend  with you  while your mom worked two 12-hour shifts and your dad (who just recently finished his very difficult graduate courses!) went hiking in the mountains. Every time I'm with you I realized how lucky I am to live in the same city as you. On Saturday your grandmother Nitza came to visit and on Sunday your grandfather Raffi came to visit. (I think you look a lot like Raffi!) There are a lot of people who love you! I really enjoyed the weekend with you. Once when you woke up a little too early from your nap I got to hold you while you finished it! You are usually too busy to cuddle very much so it was really a treat. One night you woke up & I gave you a bottle. You were so cute as you tried to engage me (sort of like flirting!) to make the case it was time to get up. But I resisted your charms and you went back to sleep. On Saturday we had breakfast with the Garvers who were in town for the March of Dimes fund raiser. As we remembered your cousin Kathryn who died the May before you were born, it was another reminder of how fortunate we are to have you in our lives. We would love you even if you weren't so beautiful! But you are beautiful.
