February included Lyla going to birthday parties and time at the park after school with both girls and Friday afternoons in HMS gym, Lyla spending Friday nights with Granny, multiple birthday parties and Lyla having surgery at The Children’s Hospital to repair a hernia. And, unfortunately, a terrible shooting at Parkman High School in Florida. I was pleased the Rotter Family went to a local event supporting the end of such terrible and too common events in March. Although hopeful, I’m not optimistic there will be real changes. I had an unsettling doctor visit and emergency room trip associated with an abscess with discussion of future surgery which fortunately, as of August 2018, has not been the case. As I’m writing this I realize when school starts I will no longer walk Willow into and out of school since she can be dropped off in carpool line. Although it will be more convenient, one of the best parts of the day is seeing Willow bravely walk into her class in the morning and sitting patiently on the bench with her classmates after school and seeing her face light up when she sees me. Time goes by so quickly and I try to treasure the memories and also look forward to the future. We had some beautiful February days at the park. But there were also a few cold, wet days we went to Chic Fil A after school and one day of Sweet Frogs and Hobby Lobby shopping! After Lyla’s surgery she was not able to play at her normal level of activity which was a challenge at times. But all went well and she had no complications. I got her a lot of little gifts to entertain her during her “down time”. It was a joy to see her enjoy them.
